Reported Number of Episodes for ‘Titans’ Season 1 Emerges
DC has been incredibly quiet about Young Justice: Outsiders and Titans since the two shows were revealed to launch on a proprietary service next year. Reportedly, Titans will begin filming in Canada this September. However, little else, including casting information, has received mention. Now it seems another small, but significant, detail has made its way to the surface.
Titans will be led by a group of people now synonymous with DC television and film, namely Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Sarah Schechter. Thanks to a recent article from Deadline (via TitansTV), regarding the work of Goldsman, the number of episodes ordered for Season 1 may have been outed. The excerpt from Deadline reads as follows:
“He also is teamed with Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti at Warner Bros on Titans, based on the DC Comics property Teen Titans revolving around Nightwing, Batman’s sidekick Dick Grayson after he goes off on his own. Goldsman co-write the pilot with Johns; it has been set for a 13-episode commitment and will launch DC’s new digital platform.”

With the success of Netflix’s model, 13 episodes is the sweet spot for streaming service-exclusive TV series. It remains to be seen if there is the potential of additional episodes being ordered for Season 1. This also raises the question of whether Young Justice is held to a similar 13-episode commitment.
Titans and Young Justice: Outsiders are slated to launch on DC’s digital service in 2018. Titans will feature a cast including Dick Grayson, Raven, Starfire, and other heroes.
