COMICS: DC Announces New Graphic Novel Series, Batman: The Dark Prince Charming

DC is set to breathe new air into their line-up this fall with a new graphic novel series from acclaimed comics creator, Enrico Marini (Le Scorpion, Eagles of Rome). Especially interesting about Batman: The Dark Prince Charming, apart from its premise, is the way in which the story will release. Instead of a miniseries, book one of the graphic novel launches in November. The subsequent volume will hit store shelves next spring.

In a blogpost on DC’s website, the synopsis reads:

BATMAN: THE DARK PRINCE CHARMING is a two-volume graphic novel series that finds Batman once again facing off against the Joker. Only this time, the stakes are personal…

Acclaimed European comics master Enrico Marini makes his American comics debut with an original, two-part graphic novel starring the Dark Knight! What secret connection do both Batman and The Joker share with a strange and mysterious young girl? After she’s kidnapped by The Joker, Batman must plunge deep into the underworld of Gotham City and race against time to find out where she’s being held. The stakes are high, and for Batman, it’s personal!

How does it look? In a word—gorgeous.

In addition to the above details, DC also unveiled a few shots of artwork from Marini’s impending first take on the Dark Knight.

The first book of Batman: The Dark Prince Charming releases November 1, 2017. Book two will arrive in stores in spring 2018. Other recent comic announcements from the publisher include a Halloween-themed series, DC House of Horror, launching this October, and Green Lantern Earth One releasing March 2018.
