The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been having a field day cranking out movies recently in order to get all of the separate films out before Avengers: Infinity War next May. One of the “solo” films to be released ahead of the big showdown was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which came out earlier this year to good reviews and which currently holds a Tomatometer score of 81% and an audience score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. The plot answered the mystery of Peter Quill’s parentage, brought back old faces from the first film, set up storylines for the next film and gave us the undeniable GOAT Baby Groot (don’t @me).
Earlier today, writer and director of both Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 James Gunn took to his Twitter to drop a trailer revealing that the home version of the sequel will be released on August 8th on Blu-Ray and DVD and that the 4k and UHD versions would be available on August 22nd. The trailer can be seen below.
