COMICS: Batman Becomes The Villain and Joker Becomes The Hero In Batman: White Knight
This coming October, Bruce Wayne experiences what it’s like to be the villain to a “real hero”.
The Joker and his partner in crime “Harley Quinn” are cured of their respective mental illnesses through medical reformation and due to this, the duo have only one target: The Batman! But, instead of employing unlawful actions to take down the caped crusader, the will utilize the law and show the citizens of their fair city that their so-called “guardian” is really the antagonistic element and must be stopped, put down and destroyed.
During an interview with Wired Magazine, Gordon Murphy (writer & illustrator) states: “The line Batman rides between ‘noble vigilante’ and ‘overzealous oppressor’ will always be shifting as our own society changes. We know the Joker is a genius, we know he’s relentless, and we know he can play the crowd, so why not make him a politician? Frank Miller modeled him after David Bowie. Chris Nolan showed him as a controlled sociopath. I see the Joker as Don Draper.”
The use of “Don Draper” brings a whole new meaning to the term “Mad Men”, eh?
The series will modernize Gotham and it’s citizens as they deal with issues such as police brutality, racism, feminine rights, the wage gap, etc and will release this coming October
