Spider-Man Sequel to Feature Villains That Have Yet to Debut on Film

Spider-Man: Homecoming is a refreshing take on the superhero genre of film. The diversity of the cast, which extends to Peter Parker’s friends, presents a true representation of New York that no Spidey movie before it has explored. Another welcoming aspect of the standalone is the inclusion of a main villain, Michael Keaton’s Vulture, that had yet to appear on the big screen until now. Next to Batman, Spider-Man has the most impressive rogues gallery in comics. The last two franchises featured some of the better known ones. However, it appears the MCU will aim to dive a bit deeper.

Talking to the Toronto Sun, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president, was asked if plans were already in motion for the villain of the film’s sequel. Of course, he wouldn’t divulge specifics; though he was willing to say the next big bad will be one not yet seen in theaters.

“We are excited to use characters that you haven’t seen before on screen. So that narrows it down a little bit in terms of who will pop up next,” Feige said. “Spider-Man has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to villains and there are a lot that haven’t been touched upon. It’s those that we will be looking at first.”

Throughout the movie, there are other hints, which won’t be spoiled here, that seemingly intimate other never-before-used characters that could be explored in later films.

Rogues such as Mister Negative and Mysterio would be incredible additions to the franchise. What other Spider-Man characters do you hope to see hit the big screen? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
