#SOTD-Calvin Harris’ Perfect Summer Jam, “Cash Out”

Have you guys listened to Calvin Harris’ new album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1? It’s full of hits, but one song that stuck out to me would have to be “Cash Out” featuring ScHoolboy Q, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and D.R.A.M.

You can find it on Apple Music, Spotify, and Soundcloud.

Now, this is such a summer jam. It’s the perfect song for a night drive with the top down or blasted from a Bluetooth speaker on the beach. Work out to it, clean to it, even whip up dinner with this playing in the background. It encourages everybody to let loose and get down. I am all about songs that promote positive vibes. ScHoolboy Q is no stranger to a feel good song, but this is surely more upbeat than what Party is known for. He usually stays on the more lyrical side and is guaranteed to put you in your feelings. My favorite part is D.R.A.M.’s outro vocals. He has such a unique voice that not only complements the song, but the overall theme of the album. In the same way that Lakeith Stanfield improves any project he’s a part of, so does D.R.A.M. He was the cherry on top of an already delicious sundae.

This entire album is a great way to start off the summer music scene and gives me hope of what every artist featured has in store for us. Rogét Chahayed provides the keyboard instrumentation on “Cash Out” that is instantly captivating and definitely what is expected from an album with “funk” in the title. He has previously worked with D.R.A.M. on “Broccoli” and with Solange on “Cranes in the Sky.” Harris is an amazing producer/composer who has proven time and time again that he has an ear for a substantial hit and it rarely fails. Other favorites include “Feels” with Pharell, Katy Perry and Big Sean, as well as the smooth “Hard to Love” featuring Jessie Reyez.

Keep your table, can we boogie on the floor I’ve been stressing all week, tryna clear it through the door, now

This is my favorite line from the song, delivered by ScHoolboy Q, because it emphasizes a good time by saying forget VIP, the dancefloor is where the party’s really at. Who really has fun behind exclusive red velvet ropes, watching hundreds of people getting lost in the music and having an awesome night? Couldn’t be me.

Check this song out on our “Geekin’ All Summer” playlist on our Soundcloud, Spotify accounts, and be sure to look for when we launch our Apple Music accounts.
