Game of Thrones Star Emilia Clarke Reportedly Not Returning After Season 8
The penultimate season of HBO’s Game of Thrones will be premiering in a few weeks, but E! Online reports that Emilia Clarke has decided season 8 will be her last.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Clarke was questioned of whether she will be signed on for any of the spin-off series of the popular HBO show as Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen.
“[The role] saved my ass in so many ways – propelled my ass, really…I mean, I have no doubt there’ll be prequels and sequels and who knows what else. But I am doing one more season,” she told Rolling Stone. “And then that’ll be it.”
Clarke’s departure from the show comes after news of HBO confirming that there will indeed be spinoffs of the hit HBO show. Whether they will be sequels or prequels have yet to be. It is important to note that while the creators of the Game of Thrones universe, Georg R. R. Martin will reportedly have a say in the spinoffs, series showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff will not be part of it.
