‘FLCL’ Returns With New Take
After an 18-year hiatus, FLCL returns for two more seasons.
Though this news was announced about a year ago, the teaser for the revival was first premiered this past weekend at Anime Expo 2017. Take a look at the trailer for yourself down below:
The revival of the anime classic FLCL (pronounced fooly-cooly) will debut next year and will feature two seasons called FLCL 2 and FLCL 3 respectively. However, compared to the first season, the revival will not be the exact same as it was before. For starters, Naota, who was the star in the first season, has been replaced. Instead, the pink-haired alien Haruko is back. Additionally, it will now be produced by Production I. G. and Studio Bones, who worked on Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Fullmetal Alchemist respectively, and not by Gainax who had originally made the anime series.
Some great news about the revival is that the music will remain the same and hold true to the original. The Pillows, who were responsible for the music in the first run of the anime, will provide the music score for the show.
FLCL 2 and FLCL 3 will be aired exclusively on Toonami in 2018.
