Spider-Man has one of the greatest (albeit heavily animal-themed) rogues galleries within the modern comic book. Marvel has expanded on this iconic plethora of bad-tempered burglars, bandits and bullies with characters such as Chameleon, Rhino, Vulture, Mysterious and, as the title suggests: Scorpion.

Mac Gargan was initially a private investigator with a taste for cases which would give him heavy acclaim and ultimate satisfaction. So, imagine how excited he was when J. Jonah Jameson hired him to find out the true identity of Spider-Man! But, to no avail, as Peter’s hyper-quick reflexes and spider sense allowed him to evade capture. Mac Gargan needed to expose Spider-Man’s identity, no matter the cost. With that in mind, Jameson signed Gargan up for a scientific process which would endowed a human being with the characteristic of a particular animal. So, Gargan chose a scorpion (the natural predator to the arachnid) and became the psychotic villain which still has standing within Marvel’s more modern properties.

Well, the other day we were treated with an official cast list for Spider-Man Homecoming and among them was Michael Mando (Far Cry 3) as Scorpion. But, another report has surfaced that Silver & Black will utilize the character as well, which is confusing due to another previous report about how the two universes are separate entities, according to Kevin Feige.

Does this mean that Sony and Marvel’s films are under the same umbrella? Will Michael be recast? Let us know in the comments below!
