Kevin Feige Says Blade Will Be In The MCU “Someday”

Ever since his solitary movie back in 1998, Blade has been a fan favorite, thanks to Wesley Snipes’ performance and the story that was shown in the movie. Later Blade II and Blade: Trinity came into the picture, and although Blade II was as good as Blade, Trinity was received poorly by critics and fans, seemingly ending the franchise.

Now, 13 years after Blade Trinity, the character might have his comeback, but this time with the MCU.

Back in 2013, Marvel announced they had regained the rights to some characters they had loaned out to other studios, like Ghost Rider, The Punisher and Blade. The two previous characters have had their debut in the MCU, Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Punisher in Netflix’ Daredevil.

And although we’ve no word or mention of Blade in Marvel’s movies or shows, things can change sooner than we think.

In a recent interview with JoBlo promoting Spider-Man: Homecoming, Kevin Feige, director of Marvel Studios, teased that “someday” we might see Blade in this connected Universe.

“We think it would be cool. Someday. My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, “Oh, there’s life here.” But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise. That was always a great lesson for me, where you go, ‘It doesn’t matter how well known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is.’ Which, many years later, would be the reason we do Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange. I think Blade is a legacy character now, and I think it would be fun to do something with him one day”.

Feige’s response is kind of vague, but it gives hope to all of Blade fans, wanting to see him in this universe that keeps expanding and growing as years go by.

What do you think about this news? Would you like to see Blade in the MCU?
