Power Rangers Director on Potential Sequel: ‘They’re Having a Discussion’
After the poor box office showing for Power Rangers, doubt was flung far and wide on a potential sequel. Would we ever see the Rangers beyond their origin story? Would we ever see Tommy as the Green Ranger as teased in the post-credit scene? The possiblities were endless yet the reality was that each passing day of its release, the possibility of a sequel was diminishing.

“Tommy Oliver?”
The potential toy sales, a big part of the Power Rangers brand and franchise gave a glimmer of hope, though until now there was no real news on whether anything had progressed or changed. Whilst promoting the home release, Dean Israelite talked to Screen Rant and there is finally hope for a sequel! Here’s what he had to say:
“I hope so. It’s obviously not up to me, but I know the studio (Lionsgate) and Saban are talking in earnest about it, and are trying to push forward. They’re having a discussion.”
Power Rangers was widely praised for its representation with a character who identified with the LGBT community aswell as a positive representation of a character with autism. The director Dean Israelite recently commented on the box office failure arguing that the PG-13 rating may have contributed as parents would’ve been reluctant to take younger children to see the movie.
What do you think? Have the chances for a sequel suddenly improved?
