With Spider-Man: Homecoming only two weeks away from premiering, the cast has been busy promoting the movie.

In recent interviews, we’ve had confirmation of planned sequels for Spider-Man: Homecoming and the existence of Miles Morales in the MCU, thanks to Kevin Feige and Tom Holland, while the later has also shared his love for the character.

Both Feige and Holland have expressed in some ways what are the plans Marvel has for the future of Spidey, but they aren’t the only ones who have expressed what they want from the future.

In an interview with Screen Rant, actress Laura Harrier has expressed her desire to become Firestar in the next movies, as she’s playing Liz Allan, who in Earth-1610 becomes Firestar.

“I hope Liz gets powers, because that’s what happens in the comics. She becomes like Firestar, and she can like light things on fire.”

Firestar is a superhero character who can manipulate microwave energy to either set things on fire, make them explode or melting them. But, as she can control energy, she also has the ability to cause the disruption of electronic devices.

Her first incarnation was Angelica Jones, who first appeared on the 1981 cartoon Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, to later appear in in 1985’s Uncanny X-Men #193. Jones is a mutant, but thanks to some problems between Marvel and Fox, we know the ‘M’ word is prohibited in the MCU.

Liz, the second Firestar, obtained her powers thanks to an encounter with Johnny Storm, but since those rights also belong to Fox, either Marvel will change Firestar origins or we won’t see the character at all in the movies.

  3. Sounds like a great idea! It’s nice to see that she has done her homework for the character 🙂 Also, is it too early for me to have already fallen in love with her? 😉
