Feige Confirms Potential Deaths for Infinity War
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, confirmed in an exclusive with JoBlo that the upcoming and much anticipated Avengers: Infinity War will be the end of the line for certain characters.
In response to the question when simply stated Feige offered a simple “Yes.” However, when the topic moved on to the fates of the arguably two biggest players in the MCU – Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America – he offered a longer, albeit still vague, response.
“We have another two years of hard work to even finish these movies, and [the actors] have a lot of work to do, so that’s all we’re thinking about, is completing those and delivering the promise of those,” Feige said. “Where it goes beyond that, we’ll see.”
Although the long run up to Infinity War, coupled with respective actors’ contracts has led to speculation among fans about the possibility of some of Earth’s mightiest meeting their demise, Feige’s comments lay out that reality in the most explicit way possible.
Aside from Captain America and Iron Man, there are other characters whose fates are worth watching. Vision (Paul Bettany), for example, and his life-giving Infinity Stone will surely be a point of contestation for long-teased Thanos. Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), could also be on his way out due to the lack of possibility for a solo film or bigger role in upcoming projects. However, there are also some characters who should be safe – Ant-Man, Wasp, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther – who either have yet or only recently made their MCU debuts.
Is there anyone you wouldn’t mind saying goodbye to? Or someone who you’d prefer to see spared? Let us know in the comments!
Avengers: Infinity War will hit theaters May 4.
I think Hawkeyes might not make it out, and probably Captain America because we got at least two other Captains waiting in the wings for that job. I can see Wanda and maybe Vision being sacrificed. Tony might retire, but I don’t think he would be killed. I’d miss all of these but some of these characters have run their course.
