Emotional Stakes Promise to be High During Next Arrowverse Crossover
The arrowverse has become televisions most notable super hero programming. Giving us diverse casting and a wide range of heroes, fans cannot get enough of the four television program universe. However, what fans love more than anything is when those shows crossover with one another, reminding us all that they belong to the same world. The most recent crossover gave us an alien invasion which reminded us of an event straight out of a comic book. This also produced the highest numbers of viewers across all four shows to date. With new seasons coming for all four of the shows, the task has now become to top last season’s crossover event.
Recently, Marc Guggenheim made remarks about how exactly he would go about accomplishing a difficult feat. His statement can be read below:
“Every year we feel the pressure and I do feel like each crossover has topped the previous one. Topping last year’s [crossover] is a high bar, if for no other reason than what do you do that is bigger than aliens? We got some, I think, very, very exciting ideas. I would say, very early on in the process in actually doing last year’s crossover, Greg [Berlanti] said that ‘there’s probably no way to get bigger than aliens’. So the best way to make this year’s crossover especially epic is, if you can’t increase the bombast, increase the emotional stakes and the emotional pay-offs. A very oblique comment on where our heads are at for this season.”
This answer is one to get excited about. While alien invaders are cool, it was very one-dimensional. This upcoming crossover could lead to long lasting consequences inside the Arrowverse and will also dive deeper into our beloved heroes. Besides, seeing all of our heroes on screen together again with the possible addition of Superman would be pretty lit.
Enough about what I think, what do you think? Are you excited after hearing Guggenheim’s statements, or are you concerned for a drop off? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
