See John Cho in the Beautiful Trailer for ‘Columbus’

In Columbus, Indiana, a Korean man Jin (Cho) finds himself in this city where his father falls ill and rests in a coma.  There, he meets a young woman Casey (Richardson) who is staying with her mother and helping her recover from her drug addiction, rather than pursuing her own architectural dreams.

The trailer is hauntingly beautiful as it teases the exploration of two characters’ relationships with each other and their respective families.  Embedded in the messages include a pondering of life, death, and the pursuit of one’s dreams.

The trailer opens with Cho’s voice “There’s this belief that if you’re not there when a family member dies, your spirit will roam aimlessly and become a ghost.”  A woman replies, “Why aren’t you at the hospital?” To which Cho’s character Jin replies: “He was never interested.”  Another response from the woman follows, “You don’t want him to get better?” A heavy silence and then Jin’s response, “Maybe not.”
