‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Has an Expected Opening of Between $90 & $108 Million
With less than a month till its release, Spiderman: Homecoming is currently estimated to have an opening weekend of somewhere between $90 million and $108 million. Nothing major or anything.
According to Deadline, these numbers aren’t coming from Sony Pictures, who as a company will lowball the projections, a common practice among studios. The franchise was already expected to perform well with young men, but it’s also apparently doing well with families in general and is already expected to perform better than the last two films to feature the web-slinger: 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man opened in the states at $62 million, while its sequel, in 2014, opened to $91 million. Homecoming will be the third attempt at a Spiderman film series in 15 years, as well as the first to work inside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
