Just before E3 opened it doors, Bandai announced its newest Dragon Ball game, Dragon Ball Fighters, for release in 2018. The game is being developed by Arc System Works, and is expected to be released on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Arc System works is known for its work on the BlazBlue and Guilty Gear series. Dragon Ball Fighters will feature a 2.5 animation style, which according to head producer Tomoko Hiroki, will help give the game a “broader range of expression for the purpose of shifting camera angles and other functions that would not be possible in 2D”.
The game will use a 3v3 battle system, making players plan out their teams’ compatibility for fights. The press release also advertises “ultra high speed battles” and “flashy special moves” that fans expect from the Dragon Ball series.
