According to Movie Pilot, some fans managed to snag the junior novelization of the film and it said that Michelle’s last name is Toomes. Now, for those who are not familiar with that surname, it’s shared with another major Spidey character – Adrian Toomes, better known as the villainous Vulture.

So, it seems that Michelle’s father is the very man who’s threatening Peter Parker’s life and life of his family. Definitely didn’t see that one coming, but it certainly ties together some of what we’ve seen unfolding in the trailers.

Do you think that this surprise is a good twist on Zendaya’s character, Michelle? Sound of in the comment section below.

*Update* According to Screen Geek, the rumor about Zendaya’s character that made its way around the net last week has now been debunked. Apparently the novelization does not reveal Michelle’s last name, so there isn’t anything specific that links her to Michael Keaton’s Vulture. So,  it seems as though Zendaya’s ‘Michelle’ is still shrouded in mystery until the film hits theaters next month.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland as the famed web-slinger, Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Laura Harrier, Bokeem Woodbine and Jacob Batalon.

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.
