Director Yu Suzuki Explains Delay Of Shenmue 3 For 2018 Release
The anticipated Shenmue 3 had an original release date for December 2017. According to director Yu Suzuki, the game will be delayed and will now have a release in 2018. This information was given through a video update for Kickstarter supporters who backed the game from their 2015 campaign that raised more than $6.3 million. It was also confirmed back on May 28th from Ys Net that Shenmue 3 will not be at E3 next week.
According to his video announcement, director Suzuki explained and gave details behind the delay:
“By utilizing new technologies we have been able to discover new possibilities and expressions,” he explained. “In many ways the game has become bigger and more beautiful than I initially expected. We do, however, need more time to deliver the game to you.” He also mentioned “In order to achieve the game concept you supported, and my sixteen-year long personal dream, we have revised the development schedule. We are moving ahead with a plan to release the game in the second half of 2018.”
