Spoiler warning for those who have not seen Wonder Woman.
It has been confirmed by Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright that they are indeed set to return as Hippolyta and Antiope later this year in Justice League.
Antiope died saving Diana during the siege of Themysicra, and Hippolyta was last seen on the island. How they fit in Justice League is still unclear, but rumours have indicated that the roles will be significant in Diana’s story in the film. In an interview with the LA Times, Gal Gadot revealed that there is much more to learn from the mother-daughter relationship, Nielsen added that her and Wright have more to do in Justice League. Perhaps alluding to the Amazons seen in the teaser, many have speculated the both Hippolyta & Antiope can be seen.
“The film only briefly touches on the relationship between Queen Hippolyta and Diana. Are we going to see more of that in the future?
Gadot: Of course; the mother and daughter relationship is always a beautiful but complex relationship. I think that there’s a lot more to explore.
Nielsen: And [Wright and I] got to do more in “Justice League” as well. As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well. We can’t say much, but …
Wright: And more of the story, you get some of the history.”
It has been confirmed that the Amazons will appear in Justice League from the trailers, and a number of Amazons are listed on IMDB. It was unclear whether Wright would be among them, considering how her story goes in Wonder Woman.
