Thandie Newton Praises Han Solo Spinoff Film as “Really Different”

We know Star Wars fans have been itching for any official updates on the upcoming Han Solo anthology film, especially after set photos featuring the film’s gorgeous landscape, new cast and in-world equipment designs have leaked in the last few weeks.

While information on the plot and characters remains tightly under wraps, the film’s all-star cast has had nothing but great things to say about production as of late.

The latest actor to sing the film’s praises is Thandie Newton. In a recent interview with The Wrap, Newton summed up her thoughts about her work on the film as such:

“It’s fantastic, I’m loving it. It’s different from anything else I have done or am doing… I can’t tell you [why]. It’s just different, OK? It’s just really different.”

Coming from an actress with such a diverse repertoire of roles in film and television, such as HBO’s sci-fi Western series Westworld, this is a good early sign that the film will be a unique and interesting addition to the Lucasfilm franchise.

The still unnamed anthology will follow Han Solo as he embarks on his young adult life, revealing the people and experiences that influenced him into becoming the cavalier rogue that fans were introduced to in the first Star Wars film. As the Han Solo spinoff covers the character’s life from age 18 to about age 24, the new Han Solo will be played by Beautiful Creatures actor Alden Ehrenreich.

Other high-profile stars involved in the film include Michael K. Williams, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson and Donald Glover, the latter of which we know is playing a young Lando Calrissian. The film is slated to blast into theaters on May 25, 2018.
