Priyanka Chopra Wants To Play Batgirl
After the DCEU’s successful release of the first female-led superhero movie Wonder Woman, fans are already looking forward to another.
There haven’t been any casting announcements yet, but one global star has made it apparent that she’s interested in taking on the role.
“But my dream part is, now that I’m working in America, I definitely want to do a superhero part,” Priyanka Chopra, said. “When I think of American movies, they’ve had superheroes for eons right? So I definitely want to play a superhero and I want to have an interesting super power. I don’t know… Batgirl would be so cool!”
Best known for her starring role in ABC’s Quantico, and her recent part in Baywatch, Priyanka Chopra has proved to have both the acting, and action chops for a role like Batgirl.
Batgirl is probably the next powerful woman fans will see headlining a DC film. The project was announced in March to some controversy. The Avengers Joss Whedon, will write and direct the film.
Reportedly, the film’s storyline will center around Barbara Gordon’s storyline in Gail Simone’s New 52 comic book series.
Some fans are hoping for an actress of color to play Batgirl, to up the diversity in the DCEU. Chopra would be a great choice. Another fan-favorite is Lindsey Morgan, of CW’s The 100.
An official casting announcement isn’t likely anytime soon, with Whedon taking over Justice League.
