This year, Marvel will release Thor: Ragnarok and with promotion for the film at full steam, we know some details of the MCU’s third installment for the titular character. One of those details is that Thor will be stripped of his hammer, Mjolnir. During the course of Thor: Ragnarok, Hela portrayed by Cate Blanchett will destroy the weapon of the God of Thunder. Trailers have displayed Thor entering the gladiator ring with not only a new haircut but two swords.
Thanks to an instagram post by the directors of Avengers: Infinity War, the Russo brothers, we now know that Thor will have his hammer returned to him somewhere between Ragnarok and the next Avengers outing. The post shows Mjolnir on set at Durham Cathedral, which is a site that Chris Hemsworth has recently been filming.
This raises a ton of questions. First, will Thor get his hammer back during Ragnarok or Infinity War? Both are possibilities, but it seems as if there is a better chance that him receiving his hammer back by the conclusion of Ragnarok seems more likely. Another question will be how will he receive the destroyed hammer back? Will Odin restore the hammer?
Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on November 3. In the meantime, let us know what you think about the use of Mjolnir following the events of Ragnarok, and how you think Thor will receive his restored weapon!
