Odette Annable Cast as ‘Supergirl’ Season Three Villain Reign

When season two of Supergirl ended with a flashback to Krypton’s destruction and an evil cult sending another pod to Earth, proclaiming the child would grow strong among them and then one day reign. Fans immediately began speculating that Reign would be the big bad of season three.

Well The CW has officially announced Reign as season three’s villain with the casting of Odette Annable.

“Reign will be the big bad of Season 3, as part of an exciting interpretation of the infamous World Killer storyline from the pages of the DC Comics.”

Reign was created by Kara’s father as a biological weapon called a Worldkiller. She comes to Earth to find out her origins, but ends up fighting with Kara when she decides to take over the Earth.

While The CW DC shows often make drastic changes to famous comic book stories (see Flashpoint), Kara’s father’s past questionable scientific experiments has been previously touched on so that part of the story is already in the show’s canon.

Annable is known for her appearances in Cloverfield, You Again, House and Banshee.

“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Odette for years,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a press release. “We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign.”

New episodes of Supergirl return to The CW in the fall, where it will continue to air Mondays at 8 pm.
