Adam Wingard Signs on to Direct ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’
Godzilla vs. Kong is the highly anticipated fourth installment of Legendary Studio’s monster franchise built around the two titular characters. That film has now found a director in Adam Wingard. Wingard has made a name for himself in the horror genre. Directing movies such as You’re Next and The Guest. Both films were small budget productions and this will be his first big budget outing. One of the films predecessors Kong: Skull Island grossed 565 million dollars world wide.
Wingard is joining a production that has assembled an impressive writing room to draft the script for this larger than life film. Members of that writing team include Terry Rossio who is best known for co-writing the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Star Trek Beyond writers Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne also are apart of the team amongst others.
With Wingard’s roots deep in the horror genre, a horror element may be expected in Godzilla vs. Kong. Recently Wingard wrapped up Netflix’s Death Note adaptation which has been his largest production thus far. He has also been rumored to be in the mix for the Venom standalone film.
