Disney and Sony have partnered to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU).  Making his MCU appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Spidey is poised to appear in a stand alone film this summer. However, Spider-Man in the MCU has not stopped Sony from a third attempt at their own cinematic universe based around the web slinger. This time Sony is moving forward to build the universe without Peter Parker and using characters closely related to Spider-Man. One of those films will be revolved around Black Cat and Silver Sable.

The Black Cat and Silver Sable film officially titled Silver and Black, recently found their director in Love & Basketball helmer, Gina Prince-Bythewood. Earlier this weekend Splash Report released a story which rumors some big appearances in the Silver and Black film. The report claims that major Spidey villain Kraven the Hunter along with fellow hero Spider-Woman. The full report from Splash Report can be seen below:

“Seven years after Mendel Stromm (a.k.a. Robot Master) and his two henchmen (The Scorpion and The Tarantula) killed her father, Silver Sable is hired by the government to find Felicia Hardy. The Black Cat, a master hacker and thief, has apparently stolen valuable secret information. She’s hiding in the lawless and dangerous triple frontier area between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. Once there, Sable asks her old contact Dmitri Smerdyakov (a.k.a. The Chameleon) to locate her. But it seems, the government are not the only ones looking for the Black Cat. It seems Felicia had made a deal Stromm to save her father from a Russian prison and she’s been genetically enhanced. Now, the mad scientist wants his prized experiment back because his financier (cough Norman Osborn cough) wants a return on his investment. There’s no appearance or mention of Peter Parker or Spider-Man. Also in the story: Dominic Fortune, Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman), Roxxon Oil, Sergei Kravinoff (Kraven the Hunter), Lonnie Lincoln (Tombstone) and Charles Standish.”

That is a ton of information and while none of it is confirmed, it still is very exciting to hear. Tons of iconic characters related to Spider-Man such as Kraven, Spider-Woman, and Norman Osborn along with others would be introduced to Sony’s spidey-verse. The report also mentions the noticeable absence of Spider-Man/Peter Parker in the film. If this report is proven credible, this could hint to Sony moving on without Peter Parker and placing Spider-Woman at the forefront. This could also open the door for another Spider-Man, Miles Morales, to make his cinematic debut. Ultimately this report is only hearsay, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with it. Who would you like to see play Kraven the Hunter, or Spider-Woman? Let us know in the comment section below.

  1. Sounds like an interesting story but I’m fearful of putting too many iconic characters in one movie. I felt the same way with Suicide Squad although I feel better about it now that there will be Gotham City Sirens and Suicide Squad 2 to expand those characters. Just my two cents 🙂

    1. The synopsis in that report seems to involve all these characters in a smart way that refrains from over crowding the plot. Tons of cameos and less a bunch of characters thrown in for 2 hours. This could totally be a false report though, so it will be fun to see what happens.
