Red Hood Joins ‘Injustice 2’ With Kickass Gameplay Trailer

Injustice 2 players and longtime Batman fans have something to celebrate today: the first DLC preview for the video game was just announced through a character trailer, and the preview shows the amazing gameplay of the infamous Red Hood.

Released on May 16, this new game continues the story of Injustice: Gods Among Us where, in an alternative universe, Superman becomes a tyrant after being tricked into destroying Metropolis and killing Lois Lane.

Injustice 2 follows Batman and some former Justice League members as they try to restore society after the fall of Superman’s regime and the arrival of new enemies, like Brainiac and a supervillain group known as The Society.

We’re not sure which side Red Hood will ultimately fight for based on the trailer alone, which is typical for the antihero both in the comics and in other Batman games as well. According to an accompanying description, Injustice 2 will base its adaptation of Red Hood on his comic book character’s classic storyline of death and resurrection:

“Jason Todd once served as Batman’s second protégé “Robin” before being brutally murdered by the Joker. Years later, the powerful healing waters of the Lazarus Pit brought Jason Todd back to life. However the power of the pit comes at a cost, and a change takes hold in Jason. He now uses mantle of the Red Hood to wage a lethal war on crime.”

The trailer makes good on the game’s promise of lethal combat. Red Hood unleashes a ridiculous arsenal of tasers, guns, knives, grenades and flying dropkick combo moves on Batman, the Joker and current “Robin” Damian Wayne.

Along the way, his tumultuous history with the Batclan is hinted at through quips, character references and what seems to be some seriously cathartic asskicking. But don’t just take my word for it – check out the trailer below!

Red Hood will be available to players sometime in June as part of the Fighter Pack #1 DLC. Players will also have the chance to play as Starfire and Sub-Zero in this same pack.
