Season 2 of ‘Luke Cage’ Will Explore Effects of Public Identity
Netflix’s very own Marvel series Luke Cage certainly has a very distinct detail relating the title character with his surroundings. Set in Harlam, the environment has a living energy and arguably is another character in the show. In season two, the relationship between the environment and the main character are about to become even closer.
Luke Cage‘s very own Mike Colter had some thoughts to share about this:
It’s something that we’ll explore in the Defenders and hopefully in Season 2 of Cage which I start very soon. It’s very different. He’s out. People know what he looks like. He’s not in any kind of disguise. People know where he lives. They know where to find him so its something he has to deal with. Most superheroes don’t have to deal with that and can kind of keep it separate.
Unlike many other superheroes, especially in the Marvel universe that Netflix has created (Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Iron Fist), Luke Cage is not operating within the shadows or in secret as Power Man. He is very much recognizable in the public sphere and the limelight. The blend of identities for Cage will lead to some interesting development.
Season two of Luke Cage is still in development but you can catch him in Netflix’s upcoming The Defenders to be released on August 18.
What do you think of Luke Cage being so recognizable? What do you hope to see in season two? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
