The second season finale of Supergirl premieres tonight and the show has already been renewed for a third season. The series focuses on the adventures of Kara Zor-El, Superman’s equally as powerful, but not as well known cousin. The first season aired on CBS before making a transfer to The CW for season two which brought new foes and new friends including the one and only Superman, who is played by actor Tyler Hoechlin.

supergirl-superman-trailer.jpgTyler donned the famous red and blue suit for the first time in the beginning of this current season, and while there isn’t any current word about just how often we should expect to see him in the upcoming future, Hoechlin did tease about the possibility of Superman’s return.

“Hoping, hoping, of course. I have such a great time there, you know, if that opportunity comes up I would love to do so. And as far as exploring more, it’s one of those things that I’d love to sit down, if that is a conversation that is had, that I would like to, you know, sit down with Greg [Berlanti] and Andrew [Kreisberg], and find again what we were excited to explore the first time around. I think that’s what made it so fun to jump into, was having an idea of what we wanted to do. You know, I would love the opportunity to have that conversation again. There’s so much left there, there’s still a lot there to explore with Jimmy Olsen, you know, I don’t think they had a proper catch-up quite yet about what James has been up to lately, so, I’d be very curious to see how he feels about that. So, I think there’s a lot of opportunity there, and hopefully, I would love the chance to see it through, explore that. So, we’ll see what the future holds.”

The Supergirl season two finale, “Nevertheless, She Persisted” in which Superman plays a “crucial role”, airs tonight, May 22nd, on The CW at 8 PM.
