‘Hanna’ TV Series Headed to Amazon
Amazon Studios is beefing up its TV presence with a straight to series order for Hanna. The show is based on the 2011 movie of the same name.
The story focuses on teenage assassin Hanna, who travels the country looking for answers about her past while avoiding rogue CIA agents.
The film starred Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan as Hanna, with Eric Bana as her assassin father and Cate Blanchett as the CIA agent who sends everyone after her.
The film’s co-writer David Farr (The Night Manager) will write the script for the series. Original director Joe Wright is not working on the show.
“I am delighted to be able to return to the Hanna story,” said Farr. “Joe Wright’s movie was dazzling, but inevitably there were certain elements that a feature-length film wasn’t able fully to explore. It’s a pleasure therefore to be able to revisit the material in a longer format and take Hanna into whole new physical and emotional worlds. Amazon has shown such passion for the project and is the perfect home for Hanna.“
While the show will tell the same story as the film, Farr has stressed that there will be differences from the movie. Amazon does not currently have a release date for Hanna.
