Sasheer Zamata is Leaving Saturday Night Live
SNL cast member, Sasheer Zamata will be leaving the show after this season. Her departure comes after other long-time cast members, Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer confirmed that they were also leaving after this season.
Zamata was on the show for four seasons and became known on the show for her impeccable impressions which included Beyonce, Lupita Nyong’o, Rihanna and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
The SNL alum was hired at a time when the show was being criticized for the cast’s lack of diversity. Speaking on that controversy and her hiring process with Vanity Fair, Zamata said, “So it got very heavy, and it had a lot of traction, and then I guess the show responded. And then they were like, ‘We need to have a rushed audition.'”
Back in March, the comedienne said, “I want to be in a Marvel movie. I want to be a superhero. I want to kick ass and be like an action star. I want that Marvel money, I want a Marvel franchise, and I want to work for the next 11 years knowing I got jobs coming up.”
It definitely doesn’t sound like a bad gig to us either. Would you be down to see Zamata portray someone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.
No word yet on what Zamata will be up to now that she’s finished on SNL, but we do know that Zamata brought the laughs constantly on the comedy show and she will certainly be missed.
