Lin-Manuel Miranda Joins ‘DuckTales’ Voice Cast
The DuckTales reboot is adding another big name to its already star-studded voice cast. Award winning actor/composer Lin-Manuel Miranda has signed on to play Gizmoduck.
Miranda will be Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, an intern for Scrooge McDuck scientist Gyro Gearloose. Fenton is also the Duckburg superhero Gizmoduck.
“Growing up as a Cuban-American comics enthusiast, I was always hungry for a Latino hero to call my own,” co-producer Francisco Angones said in a statement. “In developing the new series, executive producer Matt Youngberg and I leapt at the opportunity to adapt DuckTales‘ marquee hero into a young scientist character with Latin-inspired roots.”
The DuckTales cast includes David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck, Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan as Huey, Dewey and Louie, Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley and Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack.
Miranda will next be seen on film as Jack in Mary Poppins Returns, which opens December 25, 2018.
DuckTales will premiere on Disney XD this summer.
