‘Black Lightning’ is not in the Arrowverse
The CW has turned itself into the superhero destination by creating a connected universe among its shows Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow.
However, it appears their latest superhero series Black Lightning will not join in the crossover fun.
The CW President Mark Pedowitz announced at the network’s upfront presentation that Black Lightning will not be included in the Arrowverse.
“We do not aim to do a five-way crossover,” said Pedowitz. “Black Lightning, at this time, is not part of the Arrowverse. It is a separate situation. But there will be a big fourth-quarter crossover with all four of the shows that are on in the fall.”
While disappointing, this decision makes sense, since the rest of The CW’s superhero lineup shoots in Vancouver and Black Lightning films in Atlanta.
It is also important to note that during Supergirl’s first season on CBS, producers said the same thing before bringing the Girl of Steel into the fold. So, there’s always a chance everyone will change their minds as the show continues to evolve.
Black Lightning stars Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Christine Adams, Nafessa Williams and joins The CW schedule midseason.
