Luke Cage Season 2 May Get an early 2018 Release

We already know that Netflix will be premiering two shows based off of Marvel comic series before the end of this year: The Defenders which comes out on August 18th, and Punisher, which has yet to be given an official release date. They round out the trifecta of hero-based shows to be released by Netflix this year, following Iron Fist which came out back in March.

In an interview with Mike Colter for MCU Exchange, the actor who plays Luke Cage on both the show of the same name and in The Defenders, gave a hint about when we could expect the second season of Luke Cage.

“I’m about to start next month. When the Defenders comes out on August 18, that’ll be something we can hold onto for a little while and we can enjoy that. And hopefully, we’ll get to see Luke Cage out early next year.”

While Colter himself has not been on set, production for the second season of the show has already started and Theo Rossi has already been confirmed to reprise his role of Shades on the series. There’s also currently early speculation from released casting calls that lean towards Bushmaster-who also earned his abilities from Dr. Burstein’s experiments- making a possible appearance on the show.

Are ya’ll hype for season 2? Are The Defenders going to be able to tide you over until then? Let us know in the comments below!
