Hollywood megastar, Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson definitely has a lot of pull these days when it comes to films he’s attached to. Just today he shared his thoughts on how to improve the G.I. Joe franchise and if anybody knows how to work a franchise, it’s The Rock. Last month The Rock spoke about his upcoming solo Black Adam film, saying that it would be “f***ing awesome“. If I had to let any actor have some sort of creative rein over my movie, it’d be one that spoke a passionately as he does about his projects.
Today, Johnson kinda sorta threw Armie Hammer’s name into the mix of actors who should play the titular character of the Shazam! movie. In an interview with We Got This Covered, neither The Rock or the interviewer flat-out said Hammer’s name but he was definitely hinted at. Check out Johnson’s statement below:
“I’m not even going to tell you his name, I’m just going to say Lone Ranger… I just remember meeting him and walking away going, ‘Man, that guy would look great, I bet, as Shazam.’ And by the way, he’s one of a handful.”
Hammer isn’t a stranger to DC superhero casting as his name was tossed around in the Hal Jordan/Green Lantern casting. Keep in mind, Johnson also said this was one of a handful of names thrown into the mix and that nothing is official as of yet.
Shazam! is set to hit theaters April 5, 2019. In the meantime, get ready for the next DCEU installment, Wonder Woman, which hits theaters June 2, 2017!
