X-Men TV Series The Gifted Releases First Footage

The first footage from Fox’s X-Men TV series The Gifted arrived today, in the form of a brief promo that shows the Strucker family attempting to deal with the children’s new mutant powers.

The Strucker family includes Stephen Moyer as Reed Strucker, Amy Acker as Caitlin Strucker; and Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes as their children Lauren Strucker and Andy Strucker.

While the full trailer won’t be released until May 15th, the teaser does shed light on a couple details of the upcoming show, especially if you recognize the the Strucker name.

The character Baron von Strucker briefly appeared in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron but is also a infamous head of Hydra.

In Uncanny X-Men #194, the comic version of von Strucker had two twins, Andrea von Strucker and Andreas von Strucker. Their mutant abilities included being able to fly and generate energy blasts, while holding hands. Andreas was also able to create concussive force blasts, while Andrea could generate disintegration beams. Combined, they were known as Fenris.

However, The Gifted’s twins are known Lauren and Andy, a clear separation of the television show from the comics. Lauren also appears to use telekinesis, but she is not shown holding Andy’s hand.

Von Strucker recently debuted in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #5, meaning Marvel Studios most likely has the rights to the character, according to CBR.com.

Whichever way Fox and X-Men decide to take this new show, it should be interesting to watch the Strucker family learn about the world of mutants.
