James Gunn Confirms The Return of Ayesha in ‘GOTG Vol. 3’ (SPOILERS)

Marvel has done it again! They have given us another heartwarming, funny, visually intriguing, action packed superhero film that is sure to continue to be the topic of discussion for weeks to come. Despite the conversations of whether it’s better than the first one blah, blah, blah… what matters is that Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is a very enjoyable film. In fact, it’s so enjoyable that a follow up to this sequel was already confirmed to happen before it’s theatrical release. The director, James Gunn, is literally working on the script right now and judging by all five of the post credits scenes it’s not farfetched to believe that Volume Three of the Guardians franchise is going to be SUPER LIT (insert Fire emoji here)! One of the main post credits scenes that has audiences chattering is the scene featuring the leader of the alien race The Sovereign, Ayesha, played by Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.).
During a recent interview with IGN, Gunn confirmed her inclusion in the third installment. Read his statement below:
“I absolutely plan on bringing Elizabeth Debicki back. She’s actually one of my favorite actors I’ve ever worked with. I think on this movie between her, Pom Klementieff who plays Mantis and Chris Sullivan who plays Taserface, they really were three of the best actors I’ve ever worked with and were all such a joy on this film to deal with that I would love to deal with them again.”
Gunn didn’t confirm the type of role Ayesha would play in the third film but based off of the post credits scene mentioned earlier, we may have a clue. During the scene, a seemingly defeated Ayesha can be seen holding her head in shame as one of her servants tells her that the Counsel wants to see her. I mean when you mess with the Guardians, what did you expect to happen girl?! Anyway, she reveals that she might have failed now but she has engineered something that she knows will help her defeat the Guardians for good and they reveal a cybernetic cocoon containing the body of Marvel character Adam Warlock. SAY WHAT!!!!
In the comics, Adam Warlock was created by a group of Human scientists called the Enclave. They created him to be the perfect being and started using him for their own insidious agenda but Adam turned on them. It appears that his origins will be altered a bit since now the canon for the MCU is that he was created by Ayesha to be the next step of evolution for her people. Now that sounds like a movie we’d all love to see. Hopefully in the next installment, we will see Ayesha’s character explored even further. Are you guys excited for the return of Ayesha?
