Doug Liman Discusses his Approach to ‘Justice League Dark’
With its supernatural elements and misfit cast of characters, Justice League Dark is a fresh breath of air in the sometimes predictable superhero world.
Little is known about the live action adaptation directed by Doug Liman, however, the filmmaker is very clear on what direction he wants to take the film in.
“I think people will be surprised how character driven and how intimate Justice League Dark is, in kind of a field of bloated comic book movies,” he told CinemaBlend. “We’ve found a way to do something that’s actually really personal and small, and that’s my goal.”
“My new movie The Wall is about character…I love putting people in crazy situations,” he said. “For John Constantine, we have an amazing setup for him for Justice League Dark that’s really human.”
For the unfamiliar, Justice League Dark features a roster whose most well-known members include John Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Madame Xanadu and Frankenstein. They use magic and other abilities to fight supernatural threats in the DC universe.

Matt Ryan plays John Constantine In The CW’s DC superhero universe.
The group was recently featured in a DC animated movie. Constantine was the focus of a short-lived NBC series, before his character was re-introduced on Arrow as an old friend of Oliver’s. This version is played by Matt Ryan, who should be the first casting decision for the new film.
The movie may possibly include Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, Swamp Thing and Etrigan the Demon.
