‘Blade Runner 2049’ Trailer Showcases Stunning Visuals
When it was announced Blade Runner would be getting a sequel, fans were unsurprisingly skeptical. As one of the most beloved sci-fi classics of all time, it was long considered untouchable. However, the creative team behind the new film and the return of Harrison Ford gave fans hope.
The trailer for Blade Runner 2049 may not offer much in terms of plot details but it does feature some beautifully shot visuals. Stunning scenery has been a hallmark of Blade Runner since it arrived in theaters in 1982.
The sequel is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival), and written by Michael Green and original Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher. Legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins (The Shawshank Redemption, Skyfall) is the man behind all those amazing visuals.
The official synopsis for Blade Runner 2049 doesn’t give much away, but is does confirm that the new movie takes place 30 years later.
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Barkhad Abdi, Ana de Armas, Lennie James, Sylvia Hoeks, Mackenzie Davis and Jared Leto star in Blade Runner 2049, which hits theaters Oct. 6.
