During a quarterly earnings conference call this past Thursday, the current president of Viacom’s Nickelodeon Group, Cyma Zarghami, confirmed that the company currently has plans to have the talking yellow sea dweller reemerge onto movie screens everywhere within in the next couple of years.
This will be the iconic yellow sponge’s third appearance in theaters, his first having happened back in 2004, and his second only two years ago in 2015. Both films were box office successes for Paramount Studios, with the first garnering $140,161,792 and it’s successor earning $325,186,032 on the global market. It is currently uncertain whether or not the film will be in 2D or 3D, and according to the Hollywood Reporter, besides the film’s confirmation, the president offered no other details concerning the movie.
