‘Inhumans’ Producer Discusses Difficulty of Medusa Hair Effects

The first official look at the royal family of Marvel’s Inhumans has prompted a few questions about production elements of the series.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly executive producer Scott Buck discussed the visual effects challenges facing the production team.

One of the most difficult aspects of the show is bringing the families powers’ to life. Perhaps the hardest to figure out is Medusa. The Inhuman queen has long red hair that she is able to use as powerful tendrils.

This is not an ability that easily translates to the screen.

“It is very difficult. Even now, it’s still a process. It takes quite a long time in post to make that effect work,” said Buck.” “We have some of the best visual effects people available working on our show. We still haven’t seen the final version of it; it’s very much a work in process.”

Marvel’s Inhumans will premiere in IMAX theaters Sept. 1, then debut on ABC in the fall.
