Stan Lee Cameo Fan Theory Confirmed by Kevin Feige
Over the years, we’ve all become fans of the Stan Lee cameos throughout various Marvel films.
A fan theory suggested that Lee was playing the same person throughout all of his MCU cameos, which he’s been a part of since the first Iron Man movie back in 2008.
*Spoilers ahead if you do not not want to know about the Stan Lee Cameo in GOTG Vol. 2.
When Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige was asked at the Guardians press conference whether or not Lee’s cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was an effort to confirm the theory, Feige said:
“Yes, we always thought it would be fun. Stan Lee clearly exists, you know, above and apart from the reality of all the films. So the notion that he could be sitting there on a cosmic pit stop during the jump gate sequence in Guardians was something very fun – James had that idea and we shot that cameo and loved it so much, you know, you see it a couple of times in the movie. It wasn’t in for a long time and we put it back in towards the end of the process where he references that time he was a Federal Express agent – we thought it would be fun to put that in there because that really says, so wait a minute, he’s this same character who’s popped up in all these films.”
The famed co-creator of Marvel comics has two cameos appearances in GOTG Vol. 2 – one is when Rocket and Yondu are hopping through the 700 fast-travel gates and again near the film’s end credits.
If you can’t wait for more Stan Lee cameos, you’ll be glad to know the legend has already shot his cameos for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War.
