James Earl Jones to Receive Lifetime Achievement Tony Award
Legendary actor with the most unmistakable voice, James Earl Jones, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Tony Awards.
He made his Broadway debut back in 1957 and has acted in numerous Shakespearean features like, Othello, King Lear and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
James Earl Jones has already won two Tony Awards in his amazing theater career for The Great White Hope and Fences.
But Jones’ career obviously did not just stay on the stage. The actor has been in numerous film and television productions over his illustrious career, even voicing fan favourites, Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise and Mufasa in The Lion King – Jones is set to reprise his role as Mufasa in the live action version of the film, due out in 2019.
The Lifetime Achievement trophy will be his third Tony, and will join the many other accolades which include: an Honorary Oscar, the National Medal of Arts and the John F. Kennedy Center Honor.
In a career that has spanned decades, Jones continues to captivate audiences around the world. You can catch Jones next as Pendleton in the film, Warning Shot due out later this year.
The 2017 Tony Award nominations are to be announced on May 2.
