Rumor Alert: Is ‘Mr. Robot’ Creator Sam Esmail Writing the Next ‘Star Wars’ Anthology?
Could Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail be at the heart of the next Star Wars anthology? According to Omega Underground, that could very well be the case.
Sources at Omega Underground say that Esmail has recently been attending pitch meetings at Lucasfilm for what looks to be the next Obi-Wan Kenobi film. While Esmail certainly isn’t the only high profile in Hollywood to meet with Lucasfilm, the possibility of him taking on a significant role in the next Star Wars anthology is promising.
Esmail has been at the helm of the popular sci-fi hit Mr. Robot, writing and directing a number of episodes during its first two seasons. What’s more is that he’s got what some may view as close ties to the Star Wars franchise: he’s represented by Bryan Lourd, a former beau of Carrie Fisher’s and the father of their daughter Billie Lourd.
Whichever way this rumor happens to go, it’s clear that those behind the much-anticipated film are vetting some incredible talent. We can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
