Change Is Coming For The Marvel Cinematic Universe

The first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have followed a straight path since the universe’s inception in 2008.

Phase One introduced the Avengers’ powers and personalities, and culminated in a group team up with The Avengers. Phase Two and Three expanded into space and the  supernatural with Guardians of the Galaxy, and Doctor Strange. It’s safe to assume that Phase Four would continue in a similar pattern. However, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, that may not be the case.

“Truthfully, other than knowing that we’re going to work with Sony on another Spider-Man film for that year and that James [Gunn] is committed to continuing with the Guardians at some point, it’s all about Phase Three,” Feige told CinemaBlend, in a report that emphazided that Phase Four currently includes only Avengers 4 and Captain Marvel.

“I don’t even know if it will be called Phase Four,” Feige said. “Things will be very different after 2019. After May of 2019.”

Marvel’s Thanos storyline will most likely come to a close after Avengers 4, meaning that Marvel may be considering wiping the slate clean after the film.

What storylines and characters do you hope to see in Phase 4? Let us know in the comments.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues with Guardians of the Galaxy on May 5th, 2017.
