It’s been a few months since it was announced that star of The Get Down, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, was announced as Black Manta in the upcoming Aquaman flick.

However, the actor has remained silent on the casting until today. Abdul-Mateen II took to Twitter, glad to be able to “finally say thank you” in reply to a tweet Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson posted back in February when the casting report was announced.

Check out Abdul-Mateen II’s celebratory reply to Johnson below:

Black Manta made his first appearance in DC Comics back in 1967 and since then has become one of Aquaman’s most notable and formidable foes.

Abdul-Mateen II will join already announced, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master as the main antagonists to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.  It seems as though Aquaman will have his hands full with all the enemies he’ll surely be facing.
