It has been reported the Leslie Uggams will be in Deadpool 2 and will reprise her role as Blind Al.  When asked at an HBO afterparty for The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks if she would be returning to the movie , she answered “definitely.”

Uggams has starred in Roots and Nurse Jackie and, of course, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks where she plays opposite to Oprah Winfrey.  Currently, she is on Fox’s television series Empire as Leah Walker and mother of Lucious Lyon, played by Terrence Howard.  She has also received an Emmy nomination for her appearance on the 1977 miniseries Roots as Kizzy Reynolds.  In her capacity on Deadpool, she received praise from several critics.

In the first Deadpool movie, Blind Al was Wade Wilson’s (aka Deadpool) roommate.  Similarly, in the comic, Blind Al serves as Wilson’s roommate, friend, maternal figure, and sometimes even as his prisoner.

Deadpool 2 is slated for release in 2018.
