Set to be the first female Marvel MCU character to have a standalone film Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel will be at a theatre near you in 2019. But now, it seems that Captain Marvel reportedly found its director.

A slip may have been made by Ant-Man and the Wasp director, Peyton Reed when he told revealed that Marvel had named a director for the Captain Marvel project.

During a chat with Screen Junkies, Reed apparently let slip that a director for the MCU’s first female standalone film was “locked today” before he was quickly silenced by executive producer, Jeremy Latcham.

It was reported last fall that head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, had settled on a shortlist comprised of female directors. The list included: Lorene Scafaria (The Meddler), Niki Caro (The Zookeeper’s Wife), Leslie Linka Glatter (Homeland) and Rebecca Thomas (Electrick Children).

Right now, it is unknown which of these directors has been nabbed to helm the film, but we do know the script will be written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out).

Let us know what you think about the potential directors in the comments below.

Captain Marvel is set for a March 8, 2019 release.
