African Queen Film ‘Warrior Queen’ to be Produced by Will Packer at Universal
Universal has acquired Mark Rosenthal’s pitch about African Queen, Queen Amanirenas. Will Packer is set to produce the project under his Will Packer Productions banner. Packer and Rosenthal has previously worked together on the Emmy-nominated Roots remake.

“Queen Amanirenas ruled over the Kush Kingdom of Nubia, one of the richest Kingdom’s in Ancient Africa. She successfully led her army of Nubians into battle against the mighty invading Roman Empire forcing them to withdraw and negotiate peace.”
This is exciting news for African representation. This does not seem to be a comedy like Coming to America, and it is not about the only African Queen mainstream audiences know, Cleopatra. This could potentially have the same hype as another royal African, Black Panther. Warrior Queen is not in production yet and it will certainly be one of the most anticipated films.
Packer is set to release the comedy Girls Trip through Universal and is in pre-production for Ride Along 3.
