The Rock Teases His Solo ‘Black Adam’ Movie

One of Hollywood’s most bankable action stars, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has quite a lot on his plate as of late; by the looks of it, he’s just as excited about it as we are! MTV News caught The Rock at the world premier of Fate of the Furious this past Friday and asked for an update on DCEU’s highly anticipated Shazam Black Adam projects. Johnson had this to say about the movies:

“We’ve had great discussions with Geoff Johns over at DC. This is a really fun, cool time for DC right now because they’re world-building,” Johnson told MTV’s Josh Horowitz. “We’re seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. We have a few surprises down the line.”

He went on to say,

“So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie,” he added. “We’re building our world that way, and then we can come together at some point.”

In The Rock’s own words:

“It’s just f***ing awesome!”

David F. Sandberg is rumored to direct the Shazam movie. No word yet on Black Adam director but The Rock sure is sold, and so are we!

Shazam is set to strike theaters April 5th, 2019. No official date on when The Rock’s Black Adam film debuts but catch the next DCEU installation, Wonder Woman, June 2, 2017.
